About the Training Team

The EHPEA Training Department was established in 2007 to provide trainings and capacity building activities to help farms implement the EHPEA Code of Practice. Courses have been developed to meet farms needs in the areas of safe use of pesticides, good agricultural practices, farm safety, protection of the environment and internal auditing. The training team also works with different numbers drawn from stakeholder like the government, the flower farms and composting firms.

Training is designed to meet the industry needs and has been provided for farm workers, supervisors and members of the management team. So far, the trainings provided are practical and participatory and are delivered on individual farm sites or in clusters. After completion of courses, trainees are assessed and follow up visits are made to farms to help the trainees put their learning into practice.

The training team also provides farms with materials to help them undertake in-house trainings and develop farm documentation. Materials made available include farm safety posters, risk assessments for farm safety and environment, farm safety policy and DVD’s for induction training, environment and safety training for staff. Most of the materials are available in English and Amharic.

Farms wishing to make bookings for training should contact the team at the Association.
